PENGANJURAN KURSUS INDUKSI PENTAULIAHAN PERSIJILAN KEMAHIRAN MALAYSIA PP-PPD-PPB

PESDC has organised a training session with Centre for Instructor & Advanced Skills Training (CIAST) on Kursus Induksi Pentualiahan Persijilan Kemahiran Malaysia (PP-PPD-PPB) (Induction course on Malaysian Skills Certification & Accreditation) for 1 Oct 2011 and 2 Oct 2011 to be held in PESDC Training Complex, Pusing.

Limited seats are still available to the public. Course fees: RM300 for the 2-days course. Please contact Ms Charlotte (enquiry@pesdc.edu.my) for further information.

PESDC sgins MOU with UTAR

On 22nd July 2011, PESDC signed an MOU with University Tunku Abdul Rahman on a broad ranging collaboration. The following was extracted from UTAR's website:

UTAR signs pacts with PESDC and Murata

Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) signed two memorandums of understanding (MoU), one with Perak Entrepreneur & Skills Development Centre (PESDC) and the other with Murata Electronics (M) Sdn Bhd, at UTAR Perak Campus on 22 July 2011.

UTAR is a not-for-profit private university in Malaysia. PESDC, a training centre registered under Society Act 1966, provides skills and management training and promotes entrepreneurial development to meet the needs of manufacturing industries in Perak. Murata Electronics Malaysia, a leading electronics manufacturer that has facilities in Batu Gajah, Perak.

The first MoU was signed by UTAR President Ir Professor Academician Dato' Dr Chuah Hean Teik and PESDC Chairman Dato' Gan Tack Kong. UTAR Dean of Faculty of Engineering and Green Technology Ir Chan Cheong Loong and PESDC Vice Chairman Dato' Lim Si Boon signed as witnesses.

The second MoU was signed by UTAR President Ir Professor Academician Dato' Dr Chuah Hean Teik and Murata Electronics Malaysia Managing Director Yoshihiro Tanaka. UTAR Vice President (R&D and Commercialisation) Prof Dr Lee Sze Wei and Murata Electronics Malaysia General Manager Dr Wong Yik Ming signed as witnesses.

Present to witness the signing was Perak State Executive Councillor Dato' Dr Mah Hang Soon.

Under the MoU, UTAR would work together with its partners on areas such as industrial research, skills and management training, entrepreneurial development, course development, staff exchange, internship and employment opportunities for UTAR students.

"The smart partnerships of UTAR with PESDC and with Murata will contribute towards the success of Malaysia's Economic Transformation Programme in general, and the Perak Maju 2015 plan in particular," said Prof Academician Chuah, stressing the impacts the partnerships would bring.

"The support from a higher education institution such as UTAR as our strategy partner for innovative training and knowledge transfer is crucial for us to gain public confidence as a reliable training provider for both soft and hard skills," said Dato' Gan, citing a reason for partnering with UTAR.

Tanaka said that to expand and strengthen their company, they would need talented people and added, "We would like to support educating the students as much as possible through collaborating with UTAR."

"I believe the close academia and industry collaborations formed today will contribute significantly to the state government's commitment to bring peace, stability, progress and development to Perak," said Dato' Dr Mah, adding that he was certain that the three parties would have long-lasting and fruitful partnerships.

Working Arrangements for PESDC during Ramadan Month

During the Ramadan fasting month, PESDC's working hours  will be:
  Morning Rest Afternoon
 Monday to Thursday 08:30 - 13:0013:00 - 13:30 13:30 - 17:00
 Friday 08:30 - 12:4512:45 - 14:45 14:45 - 17:00

(The above is effective from 1st Aug 2011 till 26th Aug 2011).

PESDC would like to announce that it will be closed for Hari Raya Aidlfitri from 27th Aug 2011 to 4th Sep 2011. It will resume operation on normal working hours from Monday, 5th Aug 2011 onwards.

 According to the Deputy Minister of HR, more  jobs will be created where highly skilled graduates are required, especially those with SKM certified skills.

Changes to personnel of PESDC

PESDC would like to inform all members and clients that as of 1st June 2011, Mr. Jeremy Lai Wee Yoong (former Marketing Executive) has ceased to be an employee of PESDC. We would be most happy to be contacted by members and clients on any training events that have been arranged by Mr. Lai that have yet to be provided. Our colleague, Ms. Charlotte Lopez will be  most happy to assist members and clients with any matter relating to Mr. Lai's work. We would like to inform all members and clients that as of 1st June 2011 Mr. Lai is no longer authorized to use PESDC's good name in any manner, especially in soliciting training business from our members and clients. 

PESDC would also like to inform all members and clients that Ir. Tang Soo Ha's term of employment with PESDC as General Manager (Technical & Development) has not been renewed and he has been given an early release by the Management of PESDC on 21 June 2011. Members and clients who require technical services and advisory on technical training from PESDC are welcome to contact our colleague, En. Wan Mohd. Faizal Wan Chik (Acting Head of Training Services) at PESDC for further discussions.

Training for Staff

A training course on how to best utilise Google Apps Education was conducted by Dr. Chow Yong Neng for all the staff of PESDC on Friday, 27 May 2011. All members of staff should now be familiar with the various web apps of Google Apps to enable them to utilise these effectively.
